Winter
Activities for your Alaska winter
vacation are offered in February and March -
the best months for snow activities in the
arctic, with the long days, warmer
temperatures and wonderful snow conditions.
We offer cross country skiing, snowshoeing,
ice skating, winter hiking, ice fishing,
sledding, snowball fighting,
photography, and much more. The Northern
Lights are often excellent at this time of
the year.
A ski-equipped aircraft is available at the
lodge as needed, available to accommodate flightseeing
and varied opportunities for our guests.
(Please call ahead to reserve aircraft in
advance.)
Because of our
location, we have some of the best snow
available and also one of the longest snow
seasons in the state.
The Lodge is the starting point for
incredible backcountry skiing, situated in
the Alaska Range. The lodge, located right
at tree line has acres of
beautiful trees and magnificent open
meadows. Completely
isolated yet readily accessible for a
combination of "flat track" ski touring and
snow shoeing.
Miles of trails leave right from the Lodge,
offering opportunities to skiers of all
levels. The trails offer some of the best
remote skiing anywhere in Alaska.
All Lodge guests, whether young or just
young-at-heart, enjoy our fun tubing and
sledding hill, located right on the property
and just across the lake. You are likely to
hear whoops of joy coming from the hill, any
time people are whooshing their way down!
Of course, with unlimited snow available,
there is plenty of snowball-fighting,
snowman-building, snow-angel-making activity
to delight in. Come play in the snow with
us!
If you're into hiking through pristine
winter beauty and quiet seclusion, try
winter hiking. Nearby are designated hiking
and horseback riding trails that provide you
the most beautiful scenery in Alaska!
For the more adventurous winter enthusiast
Rainy Pass is a great place for the high
mark snow machiner and for the mountain
climber seeking numerous peaks to explore.
